Young Adult

From 2006-2009, Isaiah David Paul wrote young adult fiction as Jarold Imes. His wildly successful and award winning “Hold On Be Strong Series” helped thousands of struggling and low-interest readers pick up the book and turn the pages. These books tackle hard to discuss topics such as gangs, bullying, teenage fatherhood, sexuality and other hard-hitting issues that are still current with todays teens. Now, Isaiah David Paul is bringing back the series and rebranding it after it’s lead title, WORTH FIGHTING 4.

In honor is National Novel Writing Month 2025–Paul is documenting the creation of the final book in the “Worth Fighting 4 Series”, Nothing Is 4 Nothing, with plans to release the book May 26, 2026. Follow the journey using the hashtags #WhyIWroteTheseBooks & #WriteNowNovember

Popular Street Lit Author Marlon McCaulsky teams up with OurTeenVoices.com Editor Jarold Imes to bring two novellas that focus on two of the most things most teens are concerned with… love and life.

“Real Love” by Marlon McCaulsky

When Raina s family is uprooted from Cleveland to St. Petersburg, Florida she immediately becomes the new “it girl” at Lakewood High School aka “Hollywood High” that every guy wants. She becomes the envy of the snobbish and popular Lissa while catching the eye of her boyfriend Dan. With friends like Sheena the self confessed shopaholic; Marcus the smart-ass jock and Cory the wannabe playa, Raina firmly establishes her place at Hollywood High. Can Raina compete with Lissa who is willing to use sex, lies and manipulation to get what she wants? Is real love enough to keep the boy she loves?

“Sweet Thing” by Jarold Imes

Kandi Bigelow just knew she was flyest girl in the Tre-4; she has a bangin’ figure, the hottest man and the best clothes she can get with her five finger discount. Her tomboyish ways allow her to hang tight with the fellas, ward off any challenges from the ladies and makes her thieving ways undetectable and profitable. Josiah Seal is better known as “Thing” because of his crater face, atrocious smell, his higher than average intelligence and the fact that he towers over most of his classmates. His chances of getting a girl of Kandi’s caliber are slim to none… or so it appears. Can Kandi stop boosting and “Thing” clean his act together to find out if they have a chance at true love, or will “Thing” always have a place at the bottom of Kandi s shoe?

Suicide appeared to be the answer for Tyson Lucky’s losing faith in God, ending his abusive relationship with his father and blaming himself for the death of his girlfriend, but it wasn’t. After failing his last attempt, he is sent to live with his family in Denver, Colorado, who seem to have problems of their own. Second is a sixteen year old trying to find his biological father, a task made difficult from his mother’s past promiscuous behavior. Love is fighting for everyone to accept his biological father, the only man who has stepped to the plate to take on the responsibility. The twenty-something Hope does not want to grow up and their mother, Ankh is more interested in the boys learning about their African roots and finding ways to send her other son to college than attending to her sons’ every need. In the balance, Tyson must not only heal from his past hurts, but learn to love and trust God, again. In the story that combines the struggle to maintain one’s faith while growing up, Isaiah David Paul demonstrates why it’s not easy being a teen.
